Day 3 Of Filming (Final)

Day 3 was the final day of our filming. My group planned to meet up early and make the best out of the sunlight but we soon discovered that the time we chose to film was that the sky was too light for us to record, because if we had footage in bright day light it would look funny in our final piece.

However, as soon as we found out it wouldn't work we immediately had to burn 2 hours of our time and during these two hours we were able to plan our film better and add any ideas which we thought we missed out and when the time came to add it in, at this time my team was a little upset that we had to wait such a long time in the forest.

When we finally got onto our filming we had the perfect sky light that we long awaited for, so when we were able to get on and record seeing as it was our final day of recording we had to record all our scenes and record them to the best possible and as fats as possible to seeing as we realised that we had a 30 min block to film in and also that the park was closing soon, so we had to consider all these factors whilst recording.

Day 2 Of Filming

Day 2 of filming was quiet a great outcome because we wer'e able to evaluate the first day and also alter anything that went wrong on day 1 of our recording.

However we had ghe chance to film many many scenes and the way we did this was by planning all the vital clips we needed to get recorded on our second day of recording. What we were able to fulfilon day 2 of filming was that we had an oppertnity to film scenes of the girl running through the forest and a video for this should come out real soon

The down sides to our filming was that the sky got too dark for the recording and we didnt plan enough to find a perfect time slot similar to day 1 and make the best out of the time we had.

First Day Of Filming

This is me getting ready for some action.

I really love the location which we chose to film in because it goes so well with our plan and what we need to forfil by the end of this week.
Day 1of our filming experience was really great because we where able to get all the vital parts of our film opening recorded and also we chose a great time to film because the sky was nice and misty, this helps set a great mood and atmosphere for our film.

Also we really enjoyed working together as a team even-though a member of our group was missing we still managed to keep p to our job and fulfil it to the best of our ability and in the near future meaning tomorrow we are really looking forward into getting into some more action and finalising our film.

There was not really that many things that i could say went wrong all that was a bit of a down side was not having that extra member of the groups input into the style of our filming. Even though our style of filming was great seeing as we are  a team it is good to get every ones input and make our film to the best of our ability from all the skills we have learnt in the classroom to achieve the best grade possible :)

Potential Sounds For Our Thriller

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynjmWX9rw7Q&feature=related

This is an idea of the kind of music which we need for our thriller because it sets a scene, also seeing as in our thriller someone is being chased this music cold set the scene and leave the audience in suspense

Making Music for The opening

I decided to play around with 'Garage Band' on my iPad to try and produce the main soundtrack for our opening. This proved much harder than I expected and it turns out it is much harder than I predicted to make decent music which doesn't make your ears bleed.

Here are some of the screenshots of the steps I took:

Started with creating a new song

Smart Keyboard helped me find the right chords

Experimented with the drum kit to get a different sound

I used the 'Em' Chord

This helped to create a beat

My song after I added the three instruments

I still felt as if I was missing something and added an extra guitar, I also
decided to experiment with echo

This is what my final piece looked like

I used iMovies to create a video using the soundtrack and images ready to upload on to youtube

This is my video ready to be imported into iTunes

The Final Product:

The Order of Title Sequences

This is the order we will most likely consider using in our opening. We have analysed a number of different openings and decided that this would work best:

  • Producers Name / Logo
  • Producers Name
  • Film Title
  • Actor
  • Actor
  • Actor x2
  • Editor
  • Music
  • Casting
  • Make-up and Costume Design
  • Screenplay by
  • Production Design
  • Executive
  • Director

Reconsidering The Tile

The film title 'Delusional' without a doubt gives away the plot of the film. After seeing the Film Title appear before the main action begins in the opening it will not take a genius to work out that the woman is not actually experiencing a man chasing her. This leads me to reconsider our choice of a title. My first step was to look up 'Delusional' in the thesaurus. This allowed me to find other words or phrases which we may consider using instead.

Misconception - sadly has been already used in an American film. Misconception is a lot more interesting than 'Delusional' as it does not give away the plot of the film but can have a sub-text meaning.

Ignis Fatuus -  Sounds as if foreign, most people will probably have no idea of what it actually means or even how it should be pronounced. The meaning is any misleading idea or thing, which I think could suit the idea behind our film. However, the complexity of the words does not make me keen to use this as our film title.

Semblance - The 'S' sound does make the title sound like a thriller and in my opinion could work very well.

The Stressor - Seeing as this is what caused our character to experience delusions I think it would fit the film, it is also quite straight forward.

There is no film which already has this name

Ideas of how we can capture the woods

Seeing as the first day of our filming is almost here I've decided to find similar films and find inspiration in the way we can successfully capture the forest and the fear of the main character.

The film 'shrooms' contains a lot of scenes of people running

Here are some of my favourite shots:

Here the camera is focused on her

Fast-paced editing builds up tension, which also made it impossible for me to pause
at the right moment.

This shot has a clear view of the forest and the subject is almost in the corner.
It allows the audience to get familiar with the setting the character is in.

In the BBC drama 'Sherlock' the second episode of the second season begins with a little boy running through the woods with continues flashbacks.

I was unable to find a proper video of this scene on youtube but this video has certain scenes from the opening of the episode.

This particular episode has encouraged us to try and use a similar technique to film parts of our opening. When the little boy runs the camera captures his facial expression. This shaky effect almost makes the audience feel as if they're running with the child and essentially makes them feel uncomfortable.

Process Of Making Sound Animatic

Health and Safety tutorial

 Health & Safety Tutorial

Before we were given any equipment for filming, we were firstly introduced to health and safety and how to use the equipment.

Here are some bullet points of what we learned regarding to safety issues:
Never touch the lens because finger prints will show on our film, and also they are expensive to replace.
Never take it out on the rain, there are umbrellas we can use to cover the camera.
Never leave our SD cards inside the camera after giving them back to staff
Always bring the camera back on time, because other groups want to use it as well.

To save our footage we were given a memory card. we must handle it with extra care because it is a small object and can be lost easily, and if it lost we will loose all our work as well as paying for anew one.

When we were introduced to the tripod we were told that the legs must be out fully and it should be on flat surface. After it is fully out and placed then we can insert the camera on to it. we must hear a click when we are placing the camera on the tripod or it wont be secure and it can fall off.

Animatic Delusion New

As a group we felt the need to re-do our animatic. Our previous version has no flow or structure and has proven to be very difficult to follow. We decided to go back and take new pictures to create a better version of an animatic. This is our final version

Target Audience for our film

Our film is going to be a psychological thriller, therefore I think that the target audience is going to be older, because the film will require more thinking than action movie for example. I think that the audience would be over 16, because younger people may not find it that interesting. There is no age boundary, because I think that even some 40 year olds would like our movie. I found a pie chart which show statistics for psychological thrillers:

Target Audience for OUR thriller.

The target audience for our thriller "Delusional" will be male/female Aged between 18-40, this is because our thriller is a Physcological thriller and will require a higher level of inteligence to understand and make sense to the audience. The thriller is aimed at both genders male and female, this is because it is not to masculine or to feminine.

Foley sound photos

Those are the photos that we did during making our foley sounds for our film opening. Overall our sounds are quite good and we think that they will work well in our film opening.

Risk Assessment

Firstly, Camera safety: This is a very important part of our risk assessment because we must make camera safety one of our main priorities because this is the main piece if equipment that will be needed throughout our project, so the first steps we must take into carrying this out is that
1. Someone must always be with the camera at anytime during the project.
2. The camera must be treated with up most respect as if it were ours.

Secondly, Safety of our location of where we will be filming: We will be filming in woods so we must make sure we know and are aware of what is happening around us and how we must counter different situations that might occur.
1.Find a safe place to film and make sure u are aware of any space we will be using during our footage.
2.make sure regardless that we film at an appropriate time and do not effect nobody during our time there.

Thirdly, Safety of the group, this is another very main priority we must take into consideration. As we are out filming in a forest we must make sure we wear appropriate clothing for all the stunts we may Carry out during our footage, Also seeing as we are going to be falling over things in our footage we must make sure everyone stays safe and no body gets injured. We must all look out for each other and ensure all our team members are kept safe.1. DO NOT BREAK THE LAW.
