Rough Cut Of Film

This is our rough copy of our film and we have worked really hard to get on track with our work. Our original footage was too dark for use so we had to go out and film again.
Things to do: 1) go through frame by frame to tighten the edit
2) Shorten long clips
3) Sort out the continuity edit error with the close up.
4) lengthen jumping over log clip.
5) Add titles and transitions

Beginning of Editing

This is the begining of our editing as you can see we have added many different clips together and make sure they match, but we still havent started adding sounds. we have decided that we will start adding sounds after the whole clip is done,  this is because it would be much easier to add the foley sounds once the video is fully done.

Making Music for The opening

I decided to play around with 'Garage Band' on my iPad to try and produce the main soundtrack for our opening. This proved much harder than I expected and it turns out it is much harder than I predicted to make decent music which doesn't make your ears bleed.

Here are some of the screenshots of the steps I took:

Started with creating a new song

Smart Keyboard helped me find the right chords

Experimented with the drum kit to get a different sound

I used the 'Em' Chord

This helped to create a beat

My song after I added the three instruments

I still felt as if I was missing something and added an extra guitar, I also
decided to experiment with echo

This is what my final piece looked like

I used iMovies to create a video using the soundtrack and images ready to upload on to youtube

This is my video ready to be imported into iTunes

The Final Product:

The Order of Title Sequences

This is the order we will most likely consider using in our opening. We have analysed a number of different openings and decided that this would work best:

  • Producers Name / Logo
  • Producers Name
  • Film Title
  • Actor
  • Actor
  • Actor x2
  • Editor
  • Music
  • Casting
  • Make-up and Costume Design
  • Screenplay by
  • Production Design
  • Executive
  • Director

Reconsidering The Tile

The film title 'Delusional' without a doubt gives away the plot of the film. After seeing the Film Title appear before the main action begins in the opening it will not take a genius to work out that the woman is not actually experiencing a man chasing her. This leads me to reconsider our choice of a title. My first step was to look up 'Delusional' in the thesaurus. This allowed me to find other words or phrases which we may consider using instead.

Misconception - sadly has been already used in an American film. Misconception is a lot more interesting than 'Delusional' as it does not give away the plot of the film but can have a sub-text meaning.

Ignis Fatuus -  Sounds as if foreign, most people will probably have no idea of what it actually means or even how it should be pronounced. The meaning is any misleading idea or thing, which I think could suit the idea behind our film. However, the complexity of the words does not make me keen to use this as our film title.

Semblance - The 'S' sound does make the title sound like a thriller and in my opinion could work very well.

The Stressor - Seeing as this is what caused our character to experience delusions I think it would fit the film, it is also quite straight forward.

There is no film which already has this name

Ideas of how we can capture the woods

Seeing as the first day of our filming is almost here I've decided to find similar films and find inspiration in the way we can successfully capture the forest and the fear of the main character.

The film 'shrooms' contains a lot of scenes of people running

Here are some of my favourite shots:

Here the camera is focused on her

Fast-paced editing builds up tension, which also made it impossible for me to pause
at the right moment.

This shot has a clear view of the forest and the subject is almost in the corner.
It allows the audience to get familiar with the setting the character is in.

In the BBC drama 'Sherlock' the second episode of the second season begins with a little boy running through the woods with continues flashbacks.

I was unable to find a proper video of this scene on youtube but this video has certain scenes from the opening of the episode.

This particular episode has encouraged us to try and use a similar technique to film parts of our opening. When the little boy runs the camera captures his facial expression. This shaky effect almost makes the audience feel as if they're running with the child and essentially makes them feel uncomfortable.
