The target audience for thriller films really does depend on what type of thriller it is, so there are sub-genres to help us decide this. Most stereotypical target audiences for thrillers are males who are teenagers, young adults and adults, as common thriller conventions are action, danger, cars, guns, fighting etc, which are related with that gender and age group.
Some thrillers do stray from those very stereotypical thriller conventions and target audiences, such as the village by M. Night Shyamalan, which is probably targeted more at a female fan base, as it deals with love, family, trust and belief, whilst having thriller conventions such as murder, death and mystery. For thriller movies, the target audience depends from the sub-genre, and it is not all the same.
