A target audience is the type of group the movie is targeted at for example a comedy thriller or a romantic drama, usually these can all be identified by the cover of the movie.

Home Alone is a perfect example of a family adventure movie because it has all the elements of being a great movie, that the family can sit around and watch and be sure that they will have quite a laugh.
